Wrightbus Unveils Zero-Emission 6×2 StreetDeck Bus, Marks Net Zero Milestone
Wrightbus has unveiled its latest innovation, the 6×2 zero-emission StreetDeck bus, marking a significant milestone in its journeys towards net zero. The company has enjoyed a record-breaking year, launching several new eco-friendly vehicles and securing international orders.
The 6×2 StreetDeck will undergo summer testing before being deployed in Hong Kong. International customers, including westverkerh.de in Germany, have already placed orders. The company has secured a £150 million finance package from HSBC UK to boost production.
Wrightbus now employs over 2,300 people, with 95% of its bus output being zero-emission vehicles. CEO Jean-Marc Gales praised the 6×2 as a 'triumph of engineering' and a reflection of the company's global ambitions. Manufacturing facilities in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, and Malaysia support this growth.
Wrightbus stands at the forefront of the UK's drive towards net zero, with the 6×2 StreetDeck being a major milestone in this two-year journeys. The company looks forward to further international deployments and continued success in the zero-emission vehicle market.
