Xbox Ally & Ally X Get Storage Boost: SanDisk & WD_Black Solutions Available for Pre-order
Gamers eager for Microsoft's new Xbox handhelds, the Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, now have storage expansion options. SanDisk and WD_Black, both Western Digital affiliates, have developed solutions for the devices. Pre-orders are open, but the ROG Xbox Ally X is in short supply.
The ROG Xbox Ally X, priced at £799 / $999.99 / €899 / AU$1,599, is more expensive than its standard counterpart, available at £499 / $599.99 / €599 / AU$999. Both consoles benefit from SanDisk's microSD cards and WD_Black's SSDs for storage expansion.
SanDisk, one of the first manufacturers to support the launch, offers cards in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities, with speeds up to 200MB/s. They are drop, shock, and x-ray proof, ensuring durability. WD_Black's SN7100X NVMe SSD comes in 2TB and 4TB sizes, boasting read speeds up to 7,250MB/s and write speeds up to 6,000MB/s. It also includes a one-month trial to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Combined, these solutions can boost the consoles' capacity to a whopping 4TB.
With pre-orders open and consoles set to ship soon, gamers can now plan their storage needs. The ROG Xbox Ally X may be pricier, but its expanded storage options, coupled with the standard console's affordability, cater to various budgets. SanDisk and WD_Black's solutions ensure users can enjoy their games without capacity constraints.
